Blue Water Texas Terminal Project (Facebook event)
October 12, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Coastal Bend Bays Foundation is hosting Jill Sweeney, representing the Bluewater Texas Terminal project (BWTX), to present about the current project status and explain how you can stay involved, at its monthly virtual Coastal Issues Forum Monday, October 12th at 6 p.m. on the CBBF Facebook page.
The proposed BWTX project is an offshore deepwater port for crude oil export. The project includes two new 30-inch pipelines along 55 miles of onshore, inshore and offshore routes, a control room at Harbor Island and two, offshore single point mooring buoys. The mooring system is located approximately 21 nautical miles east of the entrance to the Port of Corpus Christi. Crude oil for BWTX will come from an onshore storage terminal located near Taft, TX, which will connect to the Gray Oak Pipeline and other third-party pipelines.
As a major exporter of crude oil, Corpus Christi is home to important oil infrastructure in the Coastal Bend economy. BWTX is a 50/50 joint venture of Phillips 66 and Trafigura. The proposed BWTX project would provide U.S. oil producers another outlet for their crude oil. BWTX is committed to developing a project that provides economic benefits for the local economy, while designed to ensure safe and environmentally sustainable operations.
